Come play with us! Learn the games that form the core of the
legendary Piven training method. While focusing on improv games, students will learn to build ensemble, explore improvisation, and adapt and
perform stories - all while having fun. We can guarantee that you’ll never see
freeze tag the same way again! For new and returning students.

5th, & 6th Grade Story Theatre Ensemble
Building on the skills developed in Theatre Games and Story Theatre, returning students take the Piven method to the next level! Students develop essential acting skills - being part of an ensemble, listening, and responding to other peoples’ energy. In
this class, students explore everything from folk tales to myths
to original stories while learning how to play within an ensemble
of actors.
Prerequisite: Theatre Games & Story Theatre

6th,
7th, & 8th Grade Improvisation & Scene Study
Use the fun and impulsive play of improvisation to create
lively characters and realistic relationships. Students will rehearse
scenes from contemporary plays, work with their scene partners and memorize their lines under the guidance of Piven's teaching staff. The class culminates in a showcase for
friends and family!

& 8th Grade Story & Scene Combo (Intermediate/Advanced)
Perfect for junior high students looking for a supportive
environment to stretch their creative limbs, a great introduction
to Piven’s acclaimed training method and an exciting opportunity for returning students to stretch their skills. In this class, students will learn about improvisation, ensemble building, story theatre,
and scene study. Get those creative juices flowing and re-learn
how to play. Open to new and returning students.

High School Scene Improvisation & Adaptation
A great class for high school students new to Piven and any young actors looking to develop their improv skills. We’ll
use games to build ensemble, explore improvisation, and adapt
and perform stories. A great class for both experienced and novice improvisers to experience the Piven approach to improvisation and theatre games. See what the legendary Piven training method is all about!

High School Shakespeare Workshop
You can be a Shakespearean actor! Cut through the difficult, heightened language,
learn the genius behind the words, feel the natural rhythm, and
grasp at true emotion. Guided by one of Piven's senior teachers, you will explore the Bard's language and come away with a fabulous resume builder!

Advanced
High School Performance Conservatory
In this performance-oriented class, students will work intensively within
an ensemble to build skills in ensemble games, improvisation,
& story theatre. Modeled on Piven's most advanced youth ensemble, the Young People's Company, students will explore Story Theatre and work with their peers to develop new works for the stage. Students will work with Young people's Company and Performance Project director Joanne Underwood. Because of the ensemble-dependant nature
of this class, students must be recommended by a Piven instructor
to register and new students must submit a resume to Piven's Director of Education. Students will be allowed no more than two absences.

Performance
Project Scene Study Lab
For members of our Performance Project, this scene study intensive
offers students a chance to continue their core ensemble training
in the new context of rehearsing scenes from contemporary plays.
